Three and a half stars for the book and the series as a whole. Strong characters, but the storylines are riddled with tons of repetition, unnecessary turns and dropped angles. It's bad enough that even in book four, the hero acknowledges that it's EXACTLY THE SAME THING three of his brothers went through with their women. That's not being cute; that's telling you to get a little more creative. And for a bunch of former SEALS, only books one and four so far play on that in any meaningful way. HOWEVER, there is something that drew me in and had me immediately purchasing and reading the next book as soon as I finished each previous. I was totally hooked, but disappointed at the same time. I think this is because these characters and the overall set up had the potential to be a five star series. A strong-handed editor could have probably reigned in all the nonsense and helped expand in other places.

It isn't often that I actually wonder whether the HEA is going to happen, but I really wasn't sure Lexi was going to survive. Lots of holes in the last third or so of the story.

The Callaghan Brothers. Sexy, Irish guys, who, along, with their father, are all ex-SEAL. They run an Irish Pub in a small Pennsylvania town....But they also contract out on Spec-Ops jobs from time to time. This is the story of Ian and Alexis ( Lexi). Lexi was brought home a long time ago by one of the other brothers, and quickly got adopted into the family as the sister they never had. Lexi crushed on Ian from the moment she met him. But things happened, Lexi moved away, and now she is back for a family funeral. She and Ian hook up, but things can never go smoothly for the Callaghan Brothers. They may take Spec-Ops missions, but the book has nothing to do with that facet of their lives. This was a book that almost made me cry. Lexi has a secret, but since she has cared for Ian for what seems like forever, she just can't tell him. This is just a good old fashioned love/lust story, with a lot of angst thrown in. They family dynamics are great. This is the second book in the series. Each book, so far, is a stand alone book, so you can read them however you wish. I enjoyed the book, felt empathy for Lexi at times, and was downright aggravated with both of them for just not telling each other how they felt. I like that we are getting more glimpses into the other brothers, and so will get a feel for them even before their books. If you are looking for a gunfight/battle type romance book, this is not for you. This is just a good love story, with characters that you will really enjoy
Just when I thought Jake was enough, enter Ian. You see Ian in the first book with Jake. They are the closest brothers and have some naughty fun at times.

The character dimension was just as wonderful if not better than the first book, which was pretty hot in it's own right. Ian is a sexy mix of humour, loyalty and sex...pure sex. He's perfectly imperfect and knows his flaws but lets fear take over when his love is in question. Lexi is a strong woman. She has a secret and she wants to be something more than what the secret is. She's probably my favourite female character in the series so far.

They both love hard and with everything, which means that without each other they are truly broken. Two broken pieces that are drawn to each other, that are good for each other that were made for each other.

This book made me angry, scared, teared up a bit...ok I cried and cursed the author saying WHAT THE HECK!!!! In the end I couldn't put it down. it moved well and was too easy to read in one sitting. You won't be disappointed.

I had to laugh when the background lead villain girl got screwed over. Wow...some women are horrific people and I hope that this one was truly fictional.
This book was kind of a bust for me.. I rencently discovered Abby Zanders and i really like her way of writing, also i really loved the first book in this series so I was looking forward to this book... But... It feels a bit to me that the Ian you met in book one had been taken over by a bodysnatcher in this book because he really was a different person, and I didnt like him at all.. Sure he had some disgusting moments in book one but he also had some redeeming features.. Not in this book... In this book he was all over the place and the funloving guy from book one?? Never saw him...

Then of course there is Lexi.. Aah Lexi.. Where to start? It was clear to me that the author wanted us to see her as a sweet selfsacrificing good woman with a core of steel.. However what I read was a reckless weak woman who thought she stood up for her self but really didnt...

Now between the two of them it didnt feel like love, I mean for her it was all "i have always loved him even in the almost 10 years we havent seen eachother and i will do anything for just one night with him even risk my life" which in my opinion is weak and sets a horrible standard for what women should expect and demand from their partners, besides it has more to do with obsession than love... And Ian? He just wants to get laid, only wait a minut it wasnt just sex it was too good for that must be love and now that I think back I always loved her but she was too young so I tried to put her in the back of my mind and have sex with anything that would have me including the B**** that tormented my one true love... Give me a break.. That is selective memory at work right there not love...

And then of course there is Lexis father... Now he really was a character there to facilitate the plot.. That part is okay.. But the way that was done was just sooooo horrible... Here AZ introduces the classic cinderella plotline.. Single dad decides to remarry because daughter need mother only mother and stepsister are evil... So far okay.. And to further the plot dad sends daughter away because of said steppers... Again so far so great... Now here comes the horrible part... We are supposed to believe that daddydearest is a good guy and only did it for her sake... Really you send your teenage daughter with a serious and possible lifethreatening condition of to live elsewhere so you dont have to deal with the favt that the stepsister was physsically and mentaly abbusing his daughter and because he is a devout catholic and doesnt want to get a divorce... But really it was for her sake... NOT... Then of course he dies and leaves everything but a broken house to the steppers and again this was clearly for her benefit so she wouldnt have to fight with them.... It just made me so mad..

This book was basically full of messages you shouldnt send, lying, running from your problems, ignoring your health for a guy and so on and so forth... But you gotta applaud Abby Zanders because she still managed to write beautifully and captavating... I hated all these things mentioned and more and yet i couldnt put the book down.. And i still managed to be happy they ended up together even though i logically believe they are a match made in hell... So well done Abby...
